May 3, 2021 - EVIT Foundation Spotlights Sponsors Who Helped Generate More than $1.5 Million in Scholarship Funds for Local Students

Foundation, Sponsors Help Finance Vocational & Career Training Programs at 10 East Valley High Schools

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The EVIT Foundation has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarship funds in its 20-year history, paving the way for thousands of East Valley high school students in financial need, helping them undergo vocational training, certification and adopt in-demand skills desired by today’s top employers.

More than $500,000 awarded just in the past 5 years, much of which came from a network of dedicated, long-term sponsors who continue to invest in local students. Desert Financial, Okland Construction and SRP each have a more than 10-year history helping local students achieve their academic and career-training goals, donating $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 to the Foundation on an annual basis. Fiesta Bowl Charities is another prolific supporter, recently awarding a $50,000 Grant to the EVIT Foundation this year driving economic growth in Arizona directly supporting the connection of job ready student to employer.

A critical part of the EVIT Foundation’s ongoing success is development of partnerships that enhance the schools training ability as well as securing on -going annual financial support. George Brazil Air Conditioning & Heating has a long and treasured partnership with the Foundation, providing not only an annual donation of $5,000 but funding the creation of a new state of the art lab at the EVIT School Campus. Scottsdale’s ROLFS Salon, has partnered with the EVIT Foundation for over 5 years now, with annual support coming in at $5,000 per year.

Scholarship funds generated by these and other generous donors help ensure that no student who wants to participate in vocational certification or career training is unable to do so due to budget constraints. The EVIT Foundation and its sponsors and donors stimulate the local economy by playing a role in producing workforce-ready graduates who are certified and ready to embark on careers in their given fields. Many of whom are in the much-needed essential workforce.

“The number of vocational job opportunities available across the U.S. continues to grow, as do the fees and certification costs associated with a lot of these positions. Yet, the number of qualified job ready and certified applicants to fill these positions has not grown alongside them,” said the EVIT Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr Larry Christiansen. “Our longtime donors recognize the value of preparing students for career success in trades and vocational roles, and we’re grateful and humbled by their continued support.”

The EVIT Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and is dedicated to providing financial support for students in need. All donations made to the EVIT Foundation help pave the way for career-minded students to develop the skills they need to become self-supporting, productive members of the workforce.
